3 EASY TIPS TO REIGNITE YOUR PASSION

How I Became an Artist Again,
And How YOU Can Reignite YOUR Passion

When we arrived at MacMasters beach on the east coast of Australia, we had no idea what we were in for. Our stay with the Macklin Family was going to be our third HelpX Work Exchange, but it became so much more…

The beautiful home, natural surroundings and interesting jobs would have been enough to make this a great experience, however, as with most things in life, it’s all about the people.

3 EASY TIPS TO REIGNITE YOUR PASSION

Enter Paul Macklin.

Paul and his wife Sallie-Ann (aka SAM) own a business called Amazing People, a corporate development consulting agency. Paul has so much leadership knowledge it is amazingly ridiculous. I could listen to him talk forever. He really makes you look at your life in a new way, constantly getting you to see things a bit differently.

Paul is not only a leadership consultant but also an artist – and a very talented and eclectic artist at that. He can paint, draw, sculpt, and he also uses several different mediums – so cool!

3 EASY TIPS TO REIGNITE YOUR PASSION

I love art and had such a passion for it back in high school and college. After graduating, corporate life got in the way and I just didn’t have the time, or at least that is what I kept telling myself. Paul has inspired me to get back into it and I have already done a few sketches. Thanks to Paul I have also become much more motivated with my photography. I am now planning to create a website to showcase my photos.

Here’s what I learned from Paul. Use these tips to reignite your passion today!

1. Don’t let fear guide your decisions

The training we have all received is fear-based, and tells us that only by adhering to expectations will we live successful lives. Stop doing and buying meaningless things and start spending time on what’s really important to you.

2. Turn off the TV

The Macklins do not have television (they have TVs to watch movies but no cable). I have realized that when you don’t waste hours watching TV life seems a bit more fulfilling. After all, it’s called the boob tube for a reason (more now than ever…wouldn’t you agree?)

3. Get involved and find like-minded people

Paul’s passion for art has led him to get active in the local art community, where he is constantly learning. Think about what groups, associations or activities can you get involved in that will allow you to spend time on your passion. Just remember to not be a passive participant…be active, engaged and ready to learn.

Bonus Tip – If you want to make money from your passion

Become an expert on whatever you are passionate about and the money will follow, but don’t give up your day job

We have nearly 7 billion people on the planet, which means that there are millions of people interested in what you are interested in. Continue growing your network as well as your understanding, skills and capabilities. Over time watch what happens, pay attention and see what opportunities emerge.

And then take advantage of them.
