Hopefully by now you’ve heard that I am a finalist for Tourism Australia’s “Outback Adventurer” – The Best Job in the World (sorry if I have been a bit over the top with the social media outreach…I’m clearly excited)! Over 45,000 video entries were submitted for this position and 25 finalists were chosen (here is my video application that got me into the Top 25). I have been working so hard to get as much support as possible and I am overwhelmed with the response I am receiving from people all over the world! This past Friday I started a Facebook Campaign to support me in my endeavor and in less than a full week I have received over 1,500 likes! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
Now it is my turn to give back! Yesterday was my 29th Birthday, which means I have 1 full year left to build my “Pay It Forward” fund. Have you ever seen the movie Pay It Forward? If not, I think it is a must see! Thirteen years ago the movie was released and it really made a positive impact on my life. Ever since watching it I have been trying to give back in any way possible, from donating my hair,
to raising money for Parkinson’s research, or something as simple as holding the door open for someone. I am trying my best but want to do even more.
For my 30th birthday, I have decided that instead of receiving I want to give. Ultimately, I would really like to share the world with someone who could really use a break. With that said, my goal is to be able to save enough money to send someone on a trip. Please keep in mind I am a backpacker and I currently don’t have a job so saving money may prove to be a bit challenging.
The good news is that I have already put away 10% of each photo sold on Alisa Messeroff Photography. The not so good news is I haven’t sold many photos yet. I can’t make many promises at this point but I can make one promise. If I win Tourism Australia’s Outback Adventurer – Best Job in the World, I will put 5% of each paycheck away. With a salary of $50,000, that would be around $1,800 after taxes are taken out. However, if it doesn’t pan out with the Outback Adventurer job, have no fear I will do my best to save as much as possible within the next year.
364 days left to save! Please continue to help spread the word and support “Alisa The Outback Adventurer!“
